Born in 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After a B.A at the University of Michigan he moved to New York, studied acting and worked at various jobs. After two years of military service he embarked on a European journey including mainly Greece and Turkey. He settled in Paris in 1967, taught part-time and began to do knotted textile works which he first exhibited in the 70s in France and later in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, South America, the Middle East and Japan. His work gradually evolved from the eary fiber art to painting and drawing.
